Embedding cyber security controls into the risk, audit and governance frameworks within local government
There has been a marked increase in incidences of cyber-attacks and data breaches across all sectors since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For local government this is a particularly important challenge to overcome and our communities expect the whole of Council (not just the ICT team) to have a solid plan in place to keep their public data safe.
But what happens in the event of a breach? What are the legal, audit, reputational, commercial and insurance related ramifications? Which policies, procedures and regulations come into play here? What are the key considerations when putting together a cyber security plan? And how do we elevate cyber security controls out of IT and embed them into the corporate controls within council?
In this recording you will hear from Alastair MacGibbon, former National Cyber Security Adviser, head of the Australian Cyber Security Centre and Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on Cyber Security and his team of highly experienced cyber security specialists for a discussion about all these questions and more.
