Rates Village Exchange

This village exchange meeting is for local government employees working in the Rates area of Queensland councils. It is a place to get together, share information, get updates on the latest legislation and policies, and ultimately help each other improve our ways of working and serving our communities.

Agenda: 

• General Arrangement processes

• Water charges - what role do both the Water Dept. & Rates Dept. do to make it all work.  
• Water consumption estimates and how these are handled?
• Water Concessions and how these are handled?
• How is Body Corporate water consumption handled i.e. are Body Corporates charged for water consumption in excess of what is billed to the child properties?
• Do Councils utilise water consumption graphs on their notices and for the ones that do, what happens when there has been a mis-read? What other issues arise with these graphs?
  
• How high water meter readings are handled i.e. do you undertake rereads, if so what is the process for determining a high reading?
• Legal Recovery - What processes do Councils undertake?
• When doing the Bulk Pensioner Confirmation, how are Pensioners who use a different locality for mailing purposes handled i.e. When Australia Post dictates the locality for delivery purposes and it differs from the property address?  Are they automatically matched?
