Community Recovery & Resilience Officer

We’re seeking a community-focused professional with experience in community development, resilience building or disaster recovery. You’ll bring a strong understanding of community capacity-building frameworks and be confident working collaboratively with diverse community groups, including First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse communities. You’ll have experience designing and delivering community education or engagement initiatives, managing projects from planning through to evaluation, and preparing clear reports and documentation. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently, build trusted relationships, and remain flexible and responsive in a disaster management environment. Relevant qualifications in disaster management, community development or the social sciences (or equivalent experience), a current Class C driver’s licence, and a willingness to support disaster operations when required are essential for success in this role.

      Fleet and Facilities are seeking an experienced labourer with knowledge of the maintenance and installation of playground equipment to join their team on a permanent full time basis.

        Transfer Station Operator (Gatehouse / Customer Service)

        The purpose of the role is to provide front line customer service by assisting customers with the use of waste disposal and recovery facilities, providing direction and advice, encouraging waste diversion, and assisting to resolve queries.         Wastewater Maintenance Worker (Labourer)

        We’re looking for a hands-on labourer to help keep Townsville’s wastewater network running well. The job includes fixing leaks, clearing blockages, repairing pipes, checking manholes, and helping with both planned and emergency maintenance. You’ll also help look after pump stations by cleaning probes and wet wells, keeping the area tidy, filling in log sheets and reporting any problems. You’ll be expected to follow all safety, environmental and work procedures each day, including ISO requirements, permits and site rules. The role also involves cleaning and disinfecting spills, keeping tools and gear in good condition, and helping identify parts we need in stock. We want someone who turns up, works hard, follows instructions and takes pride in doing the job properly. If you’re reliable, practical and ready to get stuck in, this role could be a great fit. This role is required to participate in the on-call roster and overtime arrangements as required, to resolve out of hours operational issues or emergency works including disaster management.         We’re looking for a reliable, multi-skilled Plant Operator to join our team at the Stuart Waste Facility, supporting the operation of Council’s landfill and transfer station. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors and being part of a small, close-knit crew. The work can be physically demanding, as you’ll be moving in and out of machinery throughout the day, so a good level of fitness is important. There are also ad hoc tasks expected to be performed by this role where manual labour is required. This role is open to operators of varying experience levels who are willing to learn, contribute, and take pride in their work. Day-to-day, you’ll be operating a range of plant and equipment including water trucks, excavators, loaders, landfill compactors, and tipper trucks. You’ll also assist with general site duties to support the team and keep the facility running smoothly. Candidates will require customer service and communication skills. Being a publicly accessible waste facility operators will be interacting and communicating with customers who attend the site.         Gatehouse Operator (Customer Service)

        We’re looking for a friendly and reliable team member to join Townsville City Councils (TCC) Infrastructure and Operations Division in the Resource Recovery section. This role will perform as a Casual Gatehouse Operator across TCC waste facilities. Candidates should have availability all week as weekend work is expected as apart of this role. This role will provide coverage for staff who are absent and assist during busy times. In this role operators will mainly work within the gatehouse operating the weighbridge, processing transactions and keeping accurate records required for statutory compliance. As apart of this role operators will provide practical advice to customers around waste disposal and recycling, directing customers through the site offering clear and concise directions for correct waste disposal. Gatehouse Operators will be responsible for keeping the weighbridge and gatehouse surrounds in a neat and tidy manner. Candidates should have sound organisational, communication and computer skills with the ability to stay calm in a busy environment. Gatehouse Operators will need to maintain positive UHF communication to commercial customers and plant operators in relation to waste types entering the landfill for disposal.
